The Department of Accounting shares the University's mission to be a comprehensive, teaching-oriented institution that provides excellence in undergraduate as well as graduate studies. The department's objective is to present students concentrating in accounting with a broad based approach in both Financial and Managerial Accounting. All courses have a global and general business emphasis and provide the student with knowledge to compete in the corporate world. The Department provides over 50 day and evening course sections enrolling some 1500 students per semester at both the undergraduate and graduate level. These courses are delivered by an outstanding faculty, the majority of who have terminal degree qualifications in Accounting. The Department also supports a variety of student activities. The Accounting Society provides students with the chance to meet members of the business community in both a formal and informal atmosphere. A variety of scholarship awards is offered by the Department of Accounting. These are awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. The majority of graduates from our program go on to sit for the CPA examination, as well as enter graduate school.
