James Merli is a Managing Director, Global Head of Debt Syndicate and Head of Global Finance Americas for Nomura Securities International.
Mr. Merli graduated from Montclair State University in 1983 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Finance and Marketing.
Mr. Merli joined Nomura in August 2010 from Barclays Capital where he was most recently Head of US Primary Market Syndication for Fixed Income.
Prior to joining Barclays Capital, Mr. Merli spent 25 years at Lehman Brothers where he was the Global Head of Fixed Income Syndicate. Before joining the syndicate desk in 1991, he was a member of the Medium Term Note business from 1987 to 1989, and a trader on the Corporate Bond desk from 1989 to 1991. While at Lehman Brothers, Mr. Merli was a member of the Fixed Income Operating committee, the Loan Participation committee, and the High Grade Credit committee.
At Nomura, Mr. Merli is a member of the Global Markets Management committee, the Investment Banking Executive committee, the Transaction Commitment committee and the Global Credit committee.
Mr. Merli started his career at Shearson in 1983.
